The science courses at Community High strive to help all students become scientifically literate citizens. This is a two-pronged effort – not only is it important for students to understand basic principles about how the natural world works, but it also includes an investigation of the scientific method as a time-tested way of uncovering knowledge. To this end, our courses shift the focus from merely memorizing facts and performing pre-determined experiments to actually doing science – posing questions, designing experiments, analyzing data, and discovering the answers for themselves. Moreover, we explore how scientific knowledge, technology, and innovation interacts with and affects other aspects of society.
