Community High School is a private, progressive, secular institution accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. Although we are not a conservatory, all of our students are required to take a significant number of arts courses in addition to a rigorous independent preparatory curriculum. Community High School is dedicated to small classes; teachers who prefer sustained and close working relationships with curious and dedicated students are preferred. In addition to conventional academic classes, we offer a variety of subjects not typically taught in high school, from Neuroscience to Paleoanthropology.
We recruit students from a variety of backgrounds reflecting the economic, ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the region. Our board is dedicated to keeping tuition low—currently it covers less than a third of the cost of educating each student, with additional financial aid available for all with demonstrated need.
Community High School is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and seeks to create and maintain an environment that is safe and welcoming to all of its students, faculty, and community members. We therefore prohibit discrimination against and harassment of any community member because of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law.
We do not anticipate any openings for the 2025-2026 school year at this time. However, we welcome conversations with motivated and interested faculty for adjunct or full-time positions. If you’d like to submit a CV and letter of interest, please do not hesitate to do so.
