Practicing Language Through a Virtual Student Exchange
The CHS French students participated in an inter-institutional live chat exchange with students living in France and Germany who are studying English and French. The students in France (currently learning English) joined us from their classroom at Lycée Professionel Saint Joseph in Bucquoy, northern France. French students in Germany also logged on to connect with everyone for some friendly conversation. As a combined group, the students shared their hobbies as well as their thoughts on everything from regional cuisines to stereotypes of their respective nationalities.
In order for everyone to have the opportunity to practice speaking his or her target language, half of the discussion was conducted in English; the other half was entirely in French. This activity was part of our Connecting Classrooms virtual student exchange, thanks to the collaborations between Louise Lestavel of Saint Joseph, our very own CHS French teacher, Sebastian Hobson, and Nadia Comerford of Foreign Language Experience.
