ZineFest 2023
Members of our Zine Club traveled to Richmond with Olchar to attend ZineFest, where our students could sell or trade the zines they’ve created here at school.


Trees in the yard
The Environmental Science class took advantage of the beautiful weather last week to work on identifying native trees in the CHS yard and sketch in their field journals.


Alumni at ZineFest
Our Zine Club traveled to Richmond for ZineFest 2023, and were joined by two Class of 2022 alumni members, Jay S and Charlie A.


Geometry Art
Artistry becomes a lot more difficult without the use of curves! Geometry students were asked to practice using points, lines, and angles to come up with original drawings.


Carvin Creek Critters
The Environmental Science class visited Carvin Creek to place experimental leaf pack bags in the stream. They will use the data from the collection to assess stream quality and learn about habitat characteristics for these captured little critters.


Mangos and Avocados in Spanish Class
In conjunction with “Bananas”, a book about the conflicts and environmental issues of Banana Plantations in Costa Rica in the 1970s and 1980s, Spanish III/IV students took some time to learn about mangos and aguacates. They are germinating and planting the seeds and will journal in Spanish about their progress and process.


Field Journaling
The Environmental Science class took their first field trip of the semester to Mill Mountain to practice using their field journals as they identified the species they found.


Xan Earns Global Stock Pitch Award
Last semester Xan W and friend Alex S won second place in the Global Stock Pitch Competition hosted by the Young Investors Society. This competition featured over 2,000 high school entries from 71 countries.
