The Theater Department of Community High School presented Almost, Maine, John Cariani’s popular romantic comedy in the June M. McBroom Theater.
Set in a fictional town in Northern Maine, Cariani’s play features nine scenes of Almost’s natives navigating the slings and arrows of love won, love lost, love never meant to be, love won once again. A product of the Cape Cod Theater Project, Almost, Maine has become one of the top produced plays in the United States. The New York Times said of Cariani’s play: “Almost, Maine is a series of nine amiably absurdist vignettes about love, with a touch of good-natured magic realism … This is a beautifully structured play, with nifty surprise endings (most but not all of them happy) and passing references to characters from other vignettes, which slyly tell us more about them.” Almost, Maine is rated PG-13 and recommended for audiences age 12 and above.
