Global Surrealism Explores Improvised Sound

Having discussed the connections between Surrealist automatism and musical improvisation, and the links between Jazz and the Surrealist movement in the U.S. and elsewhere, students in the Global Surrealism spent a session exploring improvised sound, not with the goal of creating aesthetically pleasant music, but of finding connections between sound, the unconscious, and the subliminal forms of communication that come through collaborative playing.
