Community High School of Roanoke, Virginia seeks an experienced teacher of Mathematics. Competency in other academic subjects is also welcome.
Community High School is a private, progressive, secular institution accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. Although we are not a conservatory, all of our students are required to take a significant number of arts courses in addition to a rigorous independent preparatory curriculum. Community High School is dedicated to small classes; teachers who prefer sustained and close working relationships with curious and dedicated students are preferred.
We recruit students from a variety of backgrounds reflecting the economic, ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the region. Our board is dedicated to keeping tuition low—currently it covers less than a third of the cost of educating each student, with additional financial aid available for all with demonstrated need.
Roanoke City serves as the de facto capitol of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. The metropolitan area contains approximately 300,000 people and is home to a major research university, two liberal arts colleges and a medical school. Community High is located in a renovated Nineteenth Century warehouse in the heart of Roanoke’s historic downtown, a block from the region’s museums of art, science, photography, transportation and history, and from its symphony and equity theater.
Graduate Education and teaching experience–especially in a progressive environment–preferred. Salaries will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Please contact Josh Chapman, Academic Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
